Match Preview:

After 36 years of absence of professional soccer in San Antonio, the Scorpions will play their home opener in the North American Soccer League (NASL) with the first ever meeting between the San Antonio Scorpions and the Puerto Rico Islanders.

The Scorpions made their debut in the NASL last week in a 0-0 draw with the Atlanta Silverbacks at Atlanta Silverbacks Park.  The Scorpions came up with a total of five shots, four of which were on target.  Goalkeeper Pat Hannigan kept a clean sheet coming up five saves.

The stage is set for the Scorpions to score their first ever goal in front of a massive home crowd.

Look for the Scorpions to be very aggressive in attack, as Hans Denissen and Pablo Campos will lead the charge.  Campos was the second leading scorer in the NASL last season and continued his goal-scoring form in preseason scoring six in five games.

In midfield, team captain Kevin Harmse will keep the tempo of the game feeding players out on the wings.  Walter Ramirez, Javier Saavedra, Wes Knight and Blake Wagner will look to create problems for the Islanders out on these areas.

Two-time MLS Cup winner Ryan Cochrane will be the leader of the back line.

The Puerto Rico Islanders opened up the 2012 NASL season with a 1-0 victory over the Tampa Bay Rowdies.  Nicholas Addlery scored the only goal of the match on an assist by Jarad Van Schaik. Goalkeeper Richard Martin recorded a clean sheet after coming up with five saves.
